HARRISON, Ark, (September 14, 2020) – Two new billboards, sponsored by #believeboonecounty, have been erected along Highway 65 North and South of Harrison featuring two locally-recognized community stars. The signs are part of the organization’s ‘Welcome Home’ campaign.

Kevin Cheri, retired superintendent of the National Park Service’s Buffalo National River Park, along with wife, Laura, and daughter, Sabrina, are featured on the South 65 billboard. After serving the National Park Service for some 40 years in six different states, they’ve made their home in Harrison since 2007. An active outdoors family, the billboard notes, “We chose Harrison for the great recreational activities!”

The billboard on North 65 features Ruby Kate Chitsey, CEO and founder of Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents. This unique national non-profit, headquartered in Harrison, exists to bring joy to the lives of the 1.5 million elders living in America’s nursing homes. True to this 12-year old’s heart, Ruby notes that, ‘You can make wishes and dreams come true here.’

The #believeboonecounty effort, began in the summer of 2018, has been an ever-evolving project of over 150 volunteer community leaders that first developed a strategic plan. The plan identified four Pillars that focus on Advancing the Region’s Economy, Improving Quality of Life, Developing, Retaining and Acquiring Talent and Telling our Story. Seventeen initiatives and forty-seven tactics were identified, each with their individual ‘action plan.’ Much progress has been made with the tasks: 13 have been completed and 30 are on-going, and likely never ending. Only 4 have not yet been started.
